Our programs are broken into two main divisions; The "LifeLine" and Resource & Training.

The “Lifeline” is the initial entry point for exposure to the programs of City of Refuge. Our mission is to meet the initial needs of the last, the lost and the least of the city of Atlanta. This entry point gives the greatest opportunity for both volunteerism and charitable support. Our purpose is to take literally the words of Christ in Luke 14:23 to “go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in” to the Master’s banquet.

The Resource and Training Department of City of Refuge has been established to provide tools and provisions that will enable individuals and families to make positive, long term changes in their lives. While the outreach programs of the “Lifeline” provide immediate, short term assistance in times of crisis, and service delivery is based purely upon need; “Resource and Training” are provided over months, even years, and service delivery is based upon a demonstrated commitment, and capacity, to change.

Mission
Our mission is to serve at risk pre-school children (ages 3-5) with a Christ-centered, stable environment to learn and play safely. By giving pre-school children better academic skills, social skills and Christian grounding, they become better prepared to succeed in school and society. Our goal is to avoid the hopelessness that leads to destructive behavior. In addition we strive to empower parents and guardians to stimulate and safeguard early childhood development. We have dedicated Christian teachers on staff who care about the future of children. They provide children with basic pre-school education, safe play methods, a listening ear, and a mentor to count on. Theme verses for the ministry are: James 1:27, Matthew 19:14, Proverbs 22:6

Schedule
The children are in school Monday through Thursday from 8am to 2pm.

Volunteer Opportunities
The preschool can always use loving, Christian individuals who want to work with preschool children. Currently, the most pressing need is a psychologist or child psychiatrist as the preschool has many children with special emotional needs. However, the staff would also greatly appreciate individuals who would spend time with the children either in small groups for lessons or as a whole class for special music, arts, etc.

Donation Opportunities
This ministry is dependent upon the donations of the community. $200 will sponsor one child for a month of learning. We are also looking for sponsors to cover increasing transportation costs. $25 per child covers a month of transportation. As we serve the children breakfast and lunch each day we are also looking for donations of non-perishable food items.
