Our programs are broken into two main divisions; The "LifeLine" and Resource & Training.

The “Lifeline” is the initial entry point for exposure to the programs of City of Refuge. Our mission is to meet the initial needs of the last, the lost and the least of the city of Atlanta. This entry point gives the greatest opportunity for both volunteerism and charitable support. Our purpose is to take literally the words of Christ in Luke 14:23 to “go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in” to the Master’s banquet.

The Resource and Training Department of City of Refuge has been established to provide tools and provisions that will enable individuals and families to make positive, long term changes in their lives. While the outreach programs of the “Lifeline” provide immediate, short term assistance in times of crisis, and service delivery is based purely upon need; “Resource and Training” are provided over months, even years, and service delivery is based upon a demonstrated commitment, and capacity, to change.

Compassion Atlanta

Overview
Currently there are approximately 2,600 grassroots organizations providing social services to the needy and disadvantaged populations in Atlanta's 13-county metro area. Of this number, approximately 25% are referred to by President Bush as our nations "Armies of Compassion" - basically, faith-based organizations whose major focus is meeting the needs of the poor and disadvantaged by helping to eradicate drugs, poverty, homelessnes, unemployment, and crime. Even so, in spite of this vast "army" of benevolent care organizations in metro-Atlanta, the task remains overwhelming and progress often seems minimal.

Mission
Compassion Atlanta seeks to become a Coalition of highly effective, knowledgeable and interconnected benevolent care organizations working alongside one another to eradicate the presence of poverty and its associated effect in metro-Atlanta and North Georgia.

Vision
The vision of Compassion Atlanta is to accomplish its mission by building a network of benevolent care organizations and providing those organizations with the food, service items, and household goods needed for them to meet the needs of their clientele.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are needed to sort, box, and distribute items to ministry partners who come to City of Refuge for semi-monthly pickups. For information regarding volunteering at Compassion Atlanta, please contact Steve Grimes.

Donation Opportunities
Compassion Atlanta accepts donations of bulk food and food service items, hygiene products, new and gently used furniture and household goods, and cash.
