Our programs are broken into two main divisions; The "LifeLine" and Resource & Training.

The “Lifeline” is the initial entry point for exposure to the programs of City of Refuge. Our mission is to meet the initial needs of the last, the lost and the least of the city of Atlanta. This entry point gives the greatest opportunity for both volunteerism and charitable support. Our purpose is to take literally the words of Christ in Luke 14:23 to “go into the highways and byways and compel them to come in” to the Master’s banquet.

The Resource and Training Department of City of Refuge has been established to provide tools and provisions that will enable individuals and families to make positive, long term changes in their lives. While the outreach programs of the “Lifeline” provide immediate, short term assistance in times of crisis, and service delivery is based purely upon need; “Resource and Training” are provided over months, even years, and service delivery is based upon a demonstrated commitment, and capacity, to change.

Safe Haven Center

Safe Haven is a ministry created to offer a helping hand, a loving shoulder, a place of refuge and an opportunity to re-think your path. As a human being I have finally grasped the concept that we all have our faults, but are we to stand-by and allow our brothers and sisters to continue these actions.

The idea behind Safe Haven is simply a place where anyone and everyone can come to and feel the love and acceptance we all deserve. What actually takes place may be very different. With time comes experience, and this experience has opened my eyes to so much that is hidden by urban myths. These men, women and children are human beings that live, breathe, think, feel and act just as we do. Unfortunately that truth has been lost and many times these “unfortunate souls” are titled as outcast or lazy. However, I tell you the truth that this is not always the case and no matter if it is, they still deserve our love and help. That is what Safe Haven is all about..

As of now Safe Haven operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 10am to 2pm. During this time we look for volunteers to come and help serve those whom we bring in. We go and pick-up at 10:30am and we bring them back at around 1:30pm. During this time they will have the time to sit and relax in a cool environment, wash their clothes, take a shower, receive new clothes, be served and hot meal prepared by our 180 Degree Kitchen Culinary Arts School and also be given an opportunity to visit our on site Resource Center. All of this comes together to form a relationship between everyone. The purpose of this ministry is to build up relationships between one another so that we come together and help transform this community into what God would want it to be; which is a Community of Faith that holds everyone accountable and works together for the common good. Eventually we would like this ministry to go so that we are able to have meals on all days of the week as well as more than one meal a day. However, for this dream to come true we must prepare the way. All we ask are for regular men and women to come and serve and see what God does. This summer alone I have had groups from schools coming to serve and they have had nothing to say but thanks. These thanks though go directly to our Lord Jesus Christ because He is the reason for all of this great work. I pray that you find time to come and be a part of this amazing ministry and contact us if there are any questions.
